Spence sits high on Howell Mountain, at approximately 1,900 feet in elevation, in the company of some of Napa’s most esteemed Howell Mountain wineries. The terroir here – well-drained volcanic soils, steep slopes, and extended hang time – is ideal for crafting intense, structured Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. In select vintages, we also source grapes for a robust Howell Mountain Zinfandel, honoring the varietal’s historic presence in the region. Across our site and stories, our commitment is to reflect the character of the mountain – from deep tannins and dark fruit to minerality and longevity – that these varietals demand.
